Susan Jane Barber Mitchell, 94, was born on September 17, 1920, in Bartlesville, OK, and passed away on October 20, 2014. She married Max Allen Mitchell in Bartlesville in 1941; he preceded her in death in 1991. Susan and Max lived in Stillwater until 1980 when they moved to Fort Worth, TX. Susan earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Oklahoma State and taught in public schools as well as at the university level. Serving as president and director of education for Midas Rex Institute in Fort Worth, she developed a course of study for surgeons and operating room personnel in the use of power instrumentation for bone surgery. This program is ongoing and has been attended by more than 26,000 enrollees. Also, she is the author or co-author of several chapters in medical journals and medical texts. In addition, she was a long-standing patron of the performing arts in Fort Worth. She is survived by two children as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
