Billy Bob Tucker, 86, passed away June 5, 2014, at his home in Stillwater. He was born on January 13, 1928, in Grimes, OK. Billy served in the U.S. Coast Guard before attending Oklahoma A&M. After finishing his M.S. degree at Oklahoma A&M, he earned the Ph.D. in agronomy and soil science from the University of Illinois. Billy married Christine McGuire in 1949, moving back to Stillwater in 1956 to begin a career as a soil scientist at OSU. He retired in 1986 as a Regents Professor and then continued as a soil science private consultant until 2006. Christine passed away in 2002, after which he married Shirley Barbre in 2006. She passed away in January 2014. He is survived by three children, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
