John Bosworth, 84, passed away in Normal, IL, on August 12, 2016. He was born in 1931 in Bloomington, IL, to Richard and Louise Bosworth. John and Susan Herrick of Urbana, IL, were married in 1954. He earned the B.A. and M.A. degrees at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. John did additional graduate work in philosophy at Columbia University where he was also a lecturer in humanities. In 1962, John accepted an offer to teach at Oklahoma State University, and he and Susan spent the next 40 years in Stillwater. He taught humanities and philosophy for 25 of those years. After his retirement, John spent several years working on his large tome on the philosophy of science as well as serving as a volunteer advocate for vulnerable senior citizens resulting in his being a frequent speaker about Social Security and Medicare. John also served on a committee that was responsible for reviewing Oklahoma hospital and nursing home regulations to be recommended to the Oklahoma legislature. He was also active in the Payne County Democrats. John is survived by his wife, Susan, and their three children and their spouses: Matthew (Jennifer Sanborn), Joseph (Karyn Tweeten), Katherine Romero (Daniel), and three grandchildren. John is also survived by a brother.
