Adelia Hanson

Adelia Hanson, 75, passed away on November 24, 2016. She was born on September 25, 1941, in Oklahoma City. Following her graduation from Ponca City High School, she attended Oklahoma State University where she was became a teaching assistant in the History Department. One of her many accomplishments was to serve as lead author on the 550-page History of the Oklahoma State University College of Arts and Sciences, which was a major component in the OSU centennial history series. In addition, she was involved in a number of capacities for many years with Stillwater’s Sheerar Museum. She also extensively studied the historical church records of the Salem Lutheran Church in Stillwater, in addition to studying family ancestry. She and her husband, Bert, lived and worked in Sweden, Norway, Ireland, in addition to other countries. Adelia’s love of history, combined with her love of food and cooking, enabled her to be a permanent member of the Ethnological Food Research Association. She is survived by her husband, Bert, two sons, Jon and Peter, daughters-in-law Emily and Catalina, and several grandchildren.
