Sidney Ewing

Sidney A. Ewing, 83, was born on December 1, 1934, to Grace and Aubrey Ewing in Emory University, Georgia, and passed away in Stillwater, OK, on January 3, 2018. He graduated from Newton County High School and completed his DVM and BSA at the University of Georgia. After completing the MS degree at the University of Wisconsin, he came to OSU to complete a PhD in veterinary parasitology. Sid and Margaret Steffens were married in 1963. To this union, three daughters, Holly, Ann, and Leah were born. For more than 50 years, Sid taught, conducted research, and worked in administration. He also worked at Kansas State University, Mississippi State University, as well as at the University of Minnesota. Sid published numerous scientific papers based on his investigation of tick-borne diseases, round worms, and as well as other parasites. Sid continued to teach veterinary history at OSU after he retired. He was pre-deceased by his parents and several aunts. He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughters, Holly Ewing, Ann Ewing (Ryan Schwindt), and Leah Ewing (Geoffrey Tattersfield), as well as by a grandson. He is also survived by three siblings, Charles Ewing, Marion Barnes, and T. Mort Ewing.
