Martha J. Maynard, 92, passed away in Oklahoma City, OK, on April 20, 2018. She was the daughter of Thomas and June Nickles and was born on a farm near Kaw, OK. She and Cecil Maynard were married in Stillwater on August 28, 1947. To this union, five children were born: Cecilia, Carla, Kent, Rex, and Dan. Martha and Cecil lived in Stillwater for more than 60 years. During this time, Martha earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics education and a master’s degree in English. Martha was honored in 2000 as the Payne County Volunteer in recognition of her many years of volunteering in a variety of organizations. She was an avid gardener, an excellent seamstress, a diligent genealogical researcher, and a talented artist. She belonged to several art guilds and associations and served in several leadership roles. Martha was predeceased by her husband, Cecil; three brothers, Charley, Roy David, and Carroll; and four sisters, Zola, Rosa, Mary Ann, and Inice. She is survived by her children, Cecilia (Bob) Stroud, Carol (Randall) Smith, Kent, Rex, and Dan (Brenda) as well as by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
