Margaret F. Nelson, 96, was born on August 16, 1922, in Claremore, OK, and passed away on August 2, 2018, in Tahlequah, OK. On August 1, 1942, Margaret and William E. Nelson were married. To this union, five children were born: John, Diana, Mary, Bill, and Bette. Margaret was a professor of American Literature at Oklahoma State University in the Department of English for 21 years. Following her retirement in 1990, she moved to Tahlequah where she was active in several organizations, served on several boards and committees, and received several awards that recognized her various activities. She was predeceased by her parents, a step father, and a brother and sister, as well as by her husband in 1984. She is survived by her five children, including John (Pamela), Diana Fiorello (Al), Mary Hicks (David), Bill (Kathy), and Bette. In addition, she is survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 grandchildren, and by a sister, Bonnie Bruington.
