Charles Chase Jr.

Charles Edward Chase, Jr., was born in Dodge City, KS, on May 26, 1939, and passed away in Oklahoma City, OK, on March 5, 2019. He spent much of his childhood in California and Dighton, KS, later moving to Inman, KS, where his family owned the Chase Grain Company. Following his high school graduation in 1957, he attended Kansas State University and Emporia State University where he studied international relations and social studies. Following his graduation in 1961, he and his wife Cida were married in San Jose’, Costa Rica. Ed and Cida are the parents of two children, Sabrina Marie and Christopher Wyatt. Following his military service, he taught at Americus High School in Lyon, County, KS. He earned a master’s degree, which enabled him to teach social studies and history. He also became an expert on the culture and lifestyles of the Old Southwest. In 1967, he moved to Norman, OK, where he worked for the Advanced Studies Division of the University of Oklahoma. Ed had a keen interest in community service and had several significant experiences in a variety of community service activities. In 1999, Ed began working as a substitute teacher for the Stillwater Public Schools and spent the last years of his career teaching at Stillwater Junior High School. Ed is survived by his wife Cida, his two children, and two grandchildren.
