OSU Emeriti Council Meeting Minutes

Agenda: The agenda was approved as presented.
Council Minutes: Minutes of the October meeting were approved as distributed.
Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer’s report was received as presented.
Reports and Updates
President-elect Update
Mike recommended that the application of Annie and Steve Elsberry, both graduates of OSU. The application was approved by the Council. Mike will invite them to the Christmas dinner. Ed and Nancy Miller will attend the Christmas dinner as potential new members.
Vice-president Activities Update
Faye Ann provided a written report. Arrangements for the Christmas dinner have been finalized. The travel group will meet Thursday, December 12 to review trip options for 2020 Kaleo Tours. Future programs are being planned the spring.
Faculty Council
Barbara Miller provided a written report. Items included a report on the Strategic Committee on Research Excellence (SCORE). The primary idea presented in the report related to the decentralized structure at OSU may inhibit research. A report on the Library shooting score was presented. President Hargis reported on the McKnight Center success and correction of the sound system. Kyle Ray reported on OCU enrollment.
Retirement and Fringe Benefits Committee
Bob Wettemann reported that the committee has met twice. Tuition and fees waivers for faculty enrolled in graduate programs was discussed. The committee is interested in engaging recently retired faculty members to host a panel discussion on planning for retirement. Bob mentioned that the University of Oklahoma had removed e-mail accounts from emeriti faculty members. The OU Emeriti Association has filed a law suit.
Update on Various Issues
Zane and the council reviewed appointments to Standing Committees. Zane also reported that a new web page would be introduced early next year.
Athletic Council Update
Glade reported that Chad Weiberg meet with the Athletic Council at its first meeting. OSU will host 2 NCAA tournaments in 2020 (Tennis and Cross Country). The updated cross country track is no recognized as one of the best in the nation.
Technology Group Update
Glade reported that on-line banking and bill paying will be discussed at the next meeting.
Other
Emeriti Mailing and Office Address: It was agreed that the address for both would be 201 Conoco Phillips Alumni Center.
December Council Meeting
The council decided to cancel the December meeting
